Dentist in Little Elm, TX, welcomes pediatric patients with Medicaid insurance!
The conditions that threaten our oral health don’t happen overnight. They progress over months or years. So, we appreciate that many families prioritize immediate needs first. If your child seems healthy, it is easy to put dental visits on the backburner. Unfortunately, tooth decay and gum disease can lurk for a long time in your child’s mouth before pain and other problems arise. By that time, costly treatment may be necessary to resolve the problem. At Frisco Elm Dental in Little Elm, TX, you don’t have to choose between pediatric dental care and basic needs.
As a Medicaid dentist, Dr. Vidya Suri looks forward to meeting you and your child. She is privileged to provide quality care that keeps your child looking and feeling his or her best. A comfortable, happy child can focus on schoolwork, enjoy social activities, and participate to their highest ability in sports and hobbies. Oral health also supports the overall health and well-being that is so critical for proper development during a child’s early, formative years.
Dental coverage for pediatric patients under Medicaid
Kids and young adults aged 20 and younger may be eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). In Texas, Medicaid and CHIP dental plans are administered through DentaQuest, MCNA Dental, and UnitedHealthcare Dental. Starting at the age of six months, your child can get free dental check-ups. This aligns with recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry; the organization encourages parents or caregivers to complete their first dental appointment as soon as the baby’s first tooth comes in (by no later than his or her first birthday). These visits, which are generally scheduled for every six months, are a valuable preventive tool. Dr. Suri evaluates problems with your child’s teeth and gums and with overall oral development proactively. Steps can then be taken to prevent complications. She also shares and demonstrates ways to take care of little gums and baby teeth until your child has the motor skills and ability to brush and floss with supervision.
Other “covered services” or benefits include:
- Fluoride treatments
- Diagnostics, such as X-rays
- “Medically necessary” treatments; for instance, dental fillings, root canal therapy, crowns, wisdom tooth removal and other extractions
Insured patients are also eligible for related services, such as free transportation to and from our office or the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions. We are very mindful of the stress that cost concerns can create for families, and Frisco Elm Dental offers many additional payment options, too. These alternatives include CareCredit financing and our in-house Dental Savers Plan. For an affordable annual fee, members get significant discounts on treatments, and preventive services are covered.
