Frisco, TX area patients benefit from advanced dentures treatment; credible info about partial vs full options

Modern dentures at Frisco Elm Dental are made with high-quality materials and advanced techniques. Regardless of your dentures treatment in Frisco, TX, be confident your new teeth will look, feel, and function naturally for years to come. Dr. Suri partners with you to ensure dental appliances promote health and a beautiful smile. Each treatment plan is unique. From budgets to lifestyle, myriad considerations arise when exploring partial dentures vs. full dentures, and the many other options that today’s dentures-wearers can enjoy.

Not your “grandma’s” dentures!

This tooth replacement option isn’t a single procedure or type of appliance. In general, you may select from four types of dentures:

  • Conventional – A full, removable option placed after all of the natural teeth have been pulled and tissues have healed
  • Partial – Dentures designed to replace several or a group of teeth
  • Immediate – A removable option inserted the same day teeth are pulled, so you never go toothless or with many gaps.
  • Overdentures –Implant-supported dentures are made up of artificial teeth and gums stabilized in your jaw by way of implants “rooted” in underlying bone

An attractive, healthy smile in no time

You’ve already got the process off to a good start by visiting the online home of Dr. Suri and her team in Little Elm. Now, call (214) 705-7100 to schedule an appointment at the office. During this initial visit, the doctor examines your mouth and discusses needs, preferences, and goals with you. She’ll also answer questions you may have about your options to help determine the best system for you.

Generally, Frisco Elm Dental will collect information about your mouth, which is then sent to our lab. Technicians expertly craft dentures based on precise measurements and impressions or molds taken by Dr. Suri. Precision diagnostics on the front-end help to ensure the proper fit that is so important for your new teeth to look, feel, and work no differently than healthy, natural ones.

Also, the dentist will extract remaining decayed or badly damaged teeth, as needed. Extraction sites must be allowed to fully heal, which is vital for the long-term comfort and stability of your dentures. “Conventional” dentures can require a waiting period of 12 weeks, as the lab makes your new teeth; however, you may opt to wear an “immediate denture” temporarily while our skilled lab partners make your new set of teeth.

Our immediate dentures-wearers say they like this option because:

  • They avoid feeling self-conscious. Replacement teeth are inserted to avoid the facial distortion, gaps, and “sinking” that can occur when teeth are removed.
  • The natural shape, color, and arrangement of the teeth are duplicated effortlessly when some teeth are still present.
  • Interim dentures function to minimize bleeding and protect tissues post-extraction.
  • They don’t notice changes in speech patterns and chewing, which frequently accompany missing teeth.
  • The adjustment process can be quicker and easier, because they’re immediately placed after extractions and build comfort in wearing dentures before getting a permanent set!

Artificial teeth and gums

Immediate dentures aren’t suited for every patient. Several adjustments may be needed to achieve proper fit, because these dentures are placed before gums have healed. A well-fitting and lifelike permanent set depends on impressions or models of teeth that are taken when gums have healed and swelling has completely subsided.

Some of Frisco Elm Dental’s patients find considerable value in implant-supported dentures. Since they are built like natural teeth, with implants serving as artificial tooth roots, they’re often considered to be the next best thing to “real teeth.” Thanks to advanced systems, a minimum number of implants support a maximum number of teeth, so costs are contained.

It’s also good to know:

  • Think of the initial fitting as a “test drive.” A follow-up visit is scheduled after permanent dentures are placed. We encourage you to share any concerns you may have about your new teeth. Dr. Suri rechecks the fit and makes adjustments as needed.
  • It’s common for dentures to feel strange at first. You’re getting used to them! With time and as needed adjustments are made, the awkwardness, soreness, and irritation should subside.
  • A mouthful of new teeth requires continued good hygiene. Brush your gums and areas that are often overlooked, such as the tongue and palate, which harbor lots of bacteria.
  • Check-ups are opportunities to discuss appropriate rinsing, soaking, and specialized denture products with your dentist.
  • Many insurance plans cover at least a portion of your dentures treatment, including repairs. Frisco Elm Dental also offers financing through CareCredit to make out-of-pocket expenses manageable.

Don’t wait to feel and look better, and to avoid the devastating effects of missing teeth. Dr. Suri and her team look forward to meeting you!
